Our next board meeting will be Wednesday, January 28th at 5:30 pm at the Mt. McKinley Bank Conference Room. All are welcome.

Future board meetings on the 4th Wednesday at 5:30 pm at the Mt. McKinley Bank Conference Room:
  • February 25, 2026
  • March 25, 2026
  • April 22, 2026

Our next event will be the DJTA Walk of Lights at Liewer Community Trail, February 14th, 2026 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

The Walk of Lights began as an event associated with the community's Festival of Lights sponsored by the Delta Chamber of Commerce. DJTA continued hosting the Walk of Lights after the Chamber disbanded, and it has become a favorite winter activity for the whole family.

DJTA and community members make ice candles, set them out, and light them for this really COOL event.  This year we are adding YOU Making Illuminated Ice Creations. We’re looking for your creativity! Use your imagination - make ice lanterns or create something out of ice and lights. Inspiration is available in books and online at Wintercraft.com for ideas.

If you want to help out by making ice candles, it's pretty easy. There are directions below for 2-gallon or 5-gallon buckets. Deliver to the Liewer Trail Kiosk by noon Feb 14. See you for some wintertime fun! Come out & enjoy!

Instructions for making Ice Candles:
2 Gallon Bucket
  1. Fill 2-gallon bucket with water
  2. Set outside on deck or a piece of wood or insulation
  3. Let freeze until the walls are 1½-2” thick check thickness with flashlight
  4. Bring inside thaw until it pops free from the bucket
  5. Take to sink tip it into sink (careful it is heavy)
  6. With sturdy knife cut the round slushy ice out (it should not have frozen solid)
  7. Drain out water (now the bottom of bucket ice, is the top of your ice candle)
  8. Take your ICE CANDLE outside to refreeze!!
  9. Place a candle or string of lights inside and enjoy!
 5 Gallon Bucket
  1. Fill 5-gallon bucket with water
  2. Set outside on deck or a piece of wood or insulation
  3. Let freeze 12 hours or until the walls are 2 ½-3” thick when check with flashlight
  4. Bring inside thaw until it pops
  5. Take to sink tip it into sink it is heavy
  6. With sturdy knife cut the round slushy ice out (it should not have frozen solid)
  7. Reach in and pick it up and drain out water (now the bottom is the top of your ice candle)
  8. Take your ICE CANDLE outside to refreeze!! Protect it from the wind!
TIPS! 5-gal: Start your candle about 12 hours prior to when you can deal with it, i.e.; if you work, start when you get home from work so you can deal with it when you get up in the morning. Or start in the morning then you will have extra time for more freeze in the evening. At -20 it takes about 12 hours; at zero about 16 hours.
